Sketchbook: Narumi Model Sheet
Pencil, Sketch N' Wash, & non-photo blue pencil on Bristol board
At last, at last, a model sheet! I've done model sheets for Jadinn and Ferkus, but I wasn't entirely happy with them. I spent a lot of time fully rendering each character expression and pose in SnW pencil. It provided a great reference for the finished characters, but a model sheet is supposed to help the artist build the character consistently every time. Without the basic shapes and construction lines visible, the first two model sheets weren't helping that much.
After spending last week on blueline sketches, I had a selection of poses and facial expressions which had finally captured Narumi's elusive personality. I traced the facial expressions onto a sheet of Bristol board, added the full-figure poses at the top, and rendered the three key drawings to use as a SnW reference. I then scanned the whole sheet and added the 3 blueline poses from last week's sketch.
I'm excited! I reformatted Jadinn's and Ferkus's model sheets along these lines and now the main cast is just about half done! I hope to finish model sheets by the end of the summer and begin working on more atmospheric concept art in the fall. Stay tuned!
