Sketchbook: All in the Family

The werewolves of Castle Whatsitsname originate with one Romanian noble family in the Dark Ages. Some of their line emigrated to America in the 19th century alongside their human kin and established a large pack in the Adirondacks. Since then, the werewolves have been both protectors and servants of the Castle, but they've taken great pains to preserve their way of life.

I've taken great pains to create their family tree, the rules for how lycanthropy gets passed on, and their relationships to one another. Even if I never mention it in the comic, it's important to know what Cheshire's family is like. How would growing up with proud, somewhat xenophobic shape-changers with extremely Old World power structures affect you as a person? The three most prominent members of my cast - Cheshire, Alyssa, and Dzeriel - all started out as the black sheep of their families. They all have to deal with the baggage they inherited, and learn to live with themselves - and each other.
